The
Big Things... Being that England is a completely
different country, you probably would not be
shocked to learn that they have different
"things" over there. And given that
some "things" make it "big"
over there that don't make it "big"
over here, there are a fair number of interesting
"things" to talk about.
The Spice
Girls are apparently the hottest thing
since sliced bread in England. Little children
see posters of them and go "Oooh,
mommy, mommy, mommy! Spice Girls! Spice Girls!
Spice Girls!" They really do. Hanson
is also becoming "big" in
England too. Well, okay, I guess some
"things" are exactly the same.
English
Candy is different. Not surprising I
guess, but I think I like their's better. Flakes.
The absoulte best. I'm getting other
favorites too, though. Wispas &
Aeros. I just finished my last Aero. I
need to go forward with booking that return trip.
You also can't find "Rock candy"
anywhere else but Great Yarmouth.
Cricket
'97. Seriously. Following in the
footsteps of other great EA Sports titles,
such as Madden '97 & NBA
Live '97 comes this exciting new piece
of software. Exciting if you are English, that
is. The only thing more boring than watching a
cricket match on TV is playing one on your PC.

One thing I do
like about computing in England: Every single
computing magazine has at least one CD inside it
that has tons (or is that tonnes?)
of shareware on it. Sometimes, there are multiple
CD's. No extra cost. This is where I should say
"American magazine publishers: Get a
clue!"
Slot
machines are much more complex overseas.
I've never really been gambling in the US, but
from what I have seen, the English slot machines
are much more complicated than their American
counterparts. Over here, we get three "hold"
buttons and a "Start"
button. (Sorry, Microsoft. :) ) Over there, you
have the standard "hold" and
"start" buttons, but you have nudges
and hi lo buttons and cancel
buttons and collect buttons
and all these extra lights and gadgets and
opportunities that you just don't get over here.
I'm going to write one of these in Visual Basic
so you can see what I mean. When I get it done
I'll upload it.
